The FAQ cautions, “If your organization still has dependencies on IE11, you must take steps now to complete your transition before February 14, 2023, or risk business disruption at scale when users lose access to IE11 dependent applications. However, the company warns users not to uninstall IE11, since its functionality is needed for Microsoft Edge IE mode. What Microsoft refers to as “IE11 visual references”, such as icons on the Start Menu and taskbar, will be removed in the June 2023 Windows security update. If you decide you don’t want Internet Explorer 11, and you’re running Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1, you can uninstall it from the View installed updates section of the Uninstall an update page of the Control Panel. In addition, Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge, and Internet Explorer platform (MSHTML/Trident), including WebOC and COM automation, will continue to be supported. Internet Explorer 11 replaces Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 9, or Internet Explorer 10. Its legacy and journey through the digital landscape have been remarkable, yet the time for its support has come to an end. Internet Explorer 11, a browser that has been a steadfast companion for web surfers, officially bid adieu to its users on June 15, 2022.
